AS I WORK ON MY GRAD SCHOOL APP FOR LIBRARIANSHIP, UNLEASHING AN OLD BUT APPROPRIATE DRAFT POST FROM 2015:

i had to come over to looscan library to work today because mom had people in her apartment, and it is a strange blast from the past. i used to walk here almost every day in high school, it was a very tiny library then, and i really sucked the juice marrow out of it, or whatever that expression is. i would do my homework but also read rolling stone, buy used christmas LPs from old library stock, read plays (‘night, mother) (!) and hundreds of harlequin romances (covertly). there’s a brainy article by zadie smith about libraries that does capture what is so great about libraries. common ground.
