Or your wife<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">will remember she\u2019s a lesbian<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">and leave you for the woman next door. The other cat\u2014<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">the one you never really liked\u2014will contract a disease<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">that requires you to pry open its feverish mouth<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">every four hours. Your parents will die.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">No matter how many vitamins you take,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">how much Pilates, you\u2019ll lose your keys,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">your hair and your memory. If your daughter<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">doesn\u2019t plug her heart<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">into every live socket she passes,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">you\u2019ll come home to find your son has emptied<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">the refrigerator, dragged it to the curb,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">and called the used appliance store for a pick up\u2014drug money.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">There\u2019s a Buddhist story of a woman chased by a tiger.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When she comes to a cliff, she sees a sturdy vine<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">and climbs half way down. But there\u2019s also a tiger below.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And two mice\u2014one white, one black\u2014scurry out<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">and begin to gnaw at the vine. At this point<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">she notices a wild strawberry growing from a crevice.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">She looks up, down, at the mice.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Then she eats the strawberry.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So here\u2019s the view, the breeze, the pulse<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">in your throat. Your wallet will be stolen, you\u2019ll get fat,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">slip on the bathroom tiles of a foreign hotel<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">and crack your hip. You\u2019ll be lonely.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Oh taste how sweet and tart<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">the red juice is, how the tiny seeds<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">crunch between your teeth.<\/p>\n<h6 dir=\"ltr\"><em>&nbsp;courtesy of emily<\/em><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Relax by Ellen Bass Bad things are going to happen.
