How have you been spending your time in self-isolation?<\/strong>
It depends how much you count the time you spend sulking. Let me put it this way: when they compile a list of the heroes of this era, I will not be on it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

What does urban life mean without our ability to go to public spaces? Does it even feel like a city anymore to you?<\/strong>
No. After September 11th, I was on the street twenty-four hours a day, and I was riveted by the things I saw. I\u2019m not talking about being down by the World Trade Center; all over town there was stuff you never would have imagined seeing. But now it\u2019s just sad. On the one hand, you\u2019re happy you don\u2019t have a million people slamming into you while they\u2019re looking at their phones. On the other hand, it\u2019s like a meadow without the good features of a meadow. Meadows\u2014not my favorite thing. There are no restaurants in a meadow. But there are flowers, there are trees. This is like a meadow with no trees.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I want to go back to Cuomo, because he\u2019s getting such adulation for his role in this, and I\u2019m curious if you think that it\u2019s deserved.<\/strong>
He\u2019s being compared to Trump, so naturally he looks like Abraham Lincoln. First of all, Trump is very lazy. I can tell you, the same way basketball players say \u201cgame recognizes game,\u201d sloth recognizes sloth. This is a lazy guy. I actually know this. And Andrew Cuomo is an incredibly industrious person, and I do think he\u2019s doing a good job. He\u2019s doing a job<\/em>, which Trump is not.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
