\nI\u2019d mumbled some questions about how he [Scorsese] might yet use his time. Make one last great thing? Get right with God? But what Scorsese said was, basically, there is no resolution. There is just, well\u2014you. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a matter of one last great thing,\u201d he told me. \u201cIt\u2019s a matter of continuing, exploring. Getting right with God, that\u2019s always the case. You\u2019re in the process of it. It becomes more evident as you age that you may not have the time. So it is a matter of dealing with that aspect of it every day. It\u2019s who you\u2019re dealing with, how you\u2019re dealing with them, the best way you can. When you say, \u2018Get right with God,\u2019 do you think it\u2019s a matter of learning the mystery of life? I don\u2019t see how you can get the answer to this. You\u2019re not going to get any. Is it a matter of expiration of guilt? Probably won\u2019t happen. But that doesn\u2019t matter because it\u2019s who you are anyway. You\u2019ve got to learn to live with it. And so the thing is, when it hits you, to say: \u2018That\u2019s me again. That\u2019s that ache again right over here. All right, let\u2019s move on. Oh, he hit me in the head here, didn\u2019t he?
