{"id":888,"date":"2010-07-23T00:54:38","date_gmt":"2010-07-23T00:54:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bookbinderlocal455.com\/blog\/?p=888"},"modified":"2010-07-24T12:20:19","modified_gmt":"2010-07-24T12:20:19","slug":"outkast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bookbinderlocal455.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/23\/outkast\/","title":{"rendered":"lend me some sugar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>listening to big boi&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/bigboi.com\/store\/\">new record<\/a>, and it reminded me of this 2006 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/08\/20\/magazine\/20outkast.html?_r=1&amp;ref=outkast&amp;pagewanted=all\" target=\"_blank\"><em>ny times article<\/em> about outkast<\/a>, which is basically one of the best articles about music, and musical partnerships, and partnerships in general that i&#8217;ve ever read. it kind of haunts me. not to use the haunt word. but just the connection and disconnection between people, even the closest ones, and being together but separate.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You wonder, too, about the degree to which Big Boi knows all this about  his old friend, and knows that the key to staying together is to let  Andr\u00e9 talk about leaving all he wants. When asked if it ever gets  tiresome for him, being keeper of the flame, always having to win back  his partner\u2019s wayward attention, he shrugs and says: \u201cI\u2019ve always been  the one. Even when we didn\u2019t get signed, when we didn\u2019t get our first  deal, Dr\u00e9 wanted to quit. He was very upset; he was like, \u2018I give up.\u2019  But I\u2019ve never been that type of person. It\u2019s not like I\u2019m trying to  hold something together that I don\u2019t believe can work. This is what my  life is; this is what I believe in. I\u2019ve always been that way.
