found in an email from 2008 — proof that it’s possible for me to actually LIKE the city where i live (the local marfa kool-aid dream glow  makes me feel like i’m essentially a cranky hater):

portland kind of rules. i really like it and i have no good reason for why that is. just feel content. though my tv doesn’t get NBC so i never get to watch law & order anymore, wtf (by the way, my friend greg had a recent guest appearance as a dirty lawyer). work is weird but i’m starting to think that maybe work is ALWAYS weird? cause really what i really like doing is reading fiction and drawing and watching undercover cop movies and drinking wine and eating salad and sometimes stretching and riding my bike and listening to rock and holding babies.
