(speaking of, RIP grooveshark, we’ll never know what song i was still into in that post from 2011), but here i is actually trying to get with the spotify program. in other news, i had to make a wedding registry this weekend at the request of my stepmom, and it was pretty awesome. just picking things with half a mind on practicality and half on straight pleasures — what a way to live!
modest dreams, part 2
Posted: March 28th, 2017 | Tags: Uncategorized | No Comments »from the article about timothy caughman, who was murdered last week in manhattan:
“He was an extremely gracious individual and respectful of his neighbors,” Mr. Jorgensen said.
He [Caughman] read avidly, and mainly kept to himself. He was a recycler of redeemables, his currency for his modest wants. His relatives said he viewed this as an entrepreneurial undertaking, a way to keep active and help pay for his room.
He did maintain a social media presence. He had a Twitter account, and in his profile he defined himself as a can and bottle recycler, autograph collector and a good businessman. He said he aspired to visit California.

been working with blimps so long
Posted: March 24th, 2017 | Tags: Uncategorized | No Comments »from today’s briefing in the ny times:
Goodyear, the U.S.-based tire multinational, retired the last of its blimps this month. But the replacements, semirigid dirigibles, will also be called blimps.
“Because a Goodyear Semirigid Dirigible doesn’t roll off the tongue,” Eddie Ogden, the company’s airship historian, said about sticking with the term. …
As the helium was let out of the last blimp from the original fleet, Spirit of Innovation, in Los Angeles recently, the Goodyear employees watching the deflation let out some emotion, too.
“There were a couple tears because they’ve been working with blimps for so long,” Mr. Ogden said.

heard this song on an eleanor friedberger sessùn set — i thought it was from 1994, like tuck and patti style, but it’s from the ’70s. everything will surprise you.

travel is fatal to prejudice

Beyond that, Everard and I try to travel with the girls as much as we can. We are lucky in that our work takes us to interesting places – as Mark Twain said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
