only the fourth time i’ve gotten emo at a show (that i can remember off the top of my head — constantines in 2005; explosions in the sky in 2011; kahil el’zabar & hamiet bluiett in 2013). but it was my first time to see the walkmen, in all my 12 years of consistent-if-occasionally-wan-if-occasionally-passionate fandom, and they are grown men making grown music with a springsteen fire that speaks to my 38-year-old heart.
