no surprise to anyone

last night i took a break and avoided all pressing grad school work and made vermont spice pumpkin cake and drank the best/worst chardonnay while watching the shining. very irresponsible, very awesome, new halloween tradition, though i did have to eventually turn off the movie and go back to grad school work. no duh but just a reminder about how incredible the shining is, the soundtrack and the titles INSANE, jack nicholson is great, shelley duvall, great, that kid, great, the costumes, great, every detail: terrifying.

in other news, i started to read that article about the dude who committed suicide in his car because he couldn’t find a job as a middle-aged person and i had to stop reading because i was like, oh my god this may be me in 3 years (or now).
