ok so it’s over and it was awesome?????

so the festival is over and it was basically totally awesome? HARD. but awesome. and also there were some bumps. but mostly awesome. ok some really dumb tiny bumps but not till the very very very end and actually it was all basically magical. i can’t believe it. it’s a week later and i had so much to say but now i can hardly feel it. success is ephemeral. strange highlights:

• this text i sent to alexa on thursday night, the opening night:

• cool ass old folks
• heron oblivion, who were indeed incredible, their set was a combination of joy, weight, seriousness, real feeling, graciousness. a perfect score.
• other highlights: mary lattimore, hailu mergia, pill, dungen — dungen scoring the adventures of prince achmed — truly amazing
• a former crush was in town covering the festival (12 years, can it be) and it was surprisingly still zingy. i think missed connections are missed for a reason, but…the zing is real, inexplicable, bittersweet. though also the same reasons why crush never advanced are still there — for example, crush didn’t even mention me or tag me in his wrap-up instagram post and what is that about? when i’m the co-creator of this thing and he knows it and couldn’t stop gushing about me? i can’t believe i just mentioned not being mentioned in an instagram post. obviously it’s all kinda bullshit.

i have nothing else to say, i think. it was intense. they want me to do it next year but i think…no. it was so satisfying ultimately but it ate at my life for six hard months and the pleasure was complex. TBD.
