extremely overdue appreciation for hamilton (10 years behind)

today i was reading about jonathan groff and forgot he was in hamilton so had to revisit a couple of his songs and then i couldn’t stop listening to the soundtrack because it is so genius, like just straight up plato-pre-cave definition of genius. lin-manuel miranda deserved every accolade, the pulitzer was so deserved, all the performers are incredible, the story is so complex and tragic. i was picturing being in the cast and performing at the first rehearsal and just how thrilling it must have been. you do hamilton and that’s enough for your whole life, you did it (it doesn’t work like that, but it should). watch this session of the cast performing at the white house and cry and think about how we had a black president that could present this and that we’ve come so far but not even far enough and seem to be sliding backwards?
