from the ny times, “you probably don’t want to look in the crisper: inside the fridges of 11 top new york chefs”:

inside the fridge of jody williams, chef at buvette:

Three bottles of Champagne and three cartons of milk? Why so much? I like the highs and lows in the refrigerator — the cheap beer and the Dom Pérignon. After you fry yourself an egg at night, it’s nice to have a glass of Champagne to go along with it.

YES, THE GOOD LIFE

amanda freitag, chef at empire diner:

“I was telling a friend I used to live with that I was having my fridge photographed, and she just started laughing. She was like, ‘You don’t have anything in your fridge except for Champagne.’ It seems to be a habit.”

DREAM FRIDGE

ignacio mattos, chef at estela:

Is there anything that’s never allowed in your fridge? As much as I love ketchup, I can’t have it in my refrigerator. Because I love it too much. You give me ketchup, and I would do really bad things with it. So I have to keep it away, to avoid embarrassment.

A TRUE KETCHUP BRO
